Which Olympus DSLR camera should I buy?

I am looking to buy a DSLR camera pretty soon. This will be my first but I do know quite a bit about them. I have a huge passion for photography and am looking into starting my own photography business. I will do mostly outdoor photography along with some indoors. It will be mostly children's photography in garden type surroundings. I am set on an Olmpus.

Mere Mortal is like many in this forum, dead set on pushing Nikon, Pentax and Canon. I happen to be an Olympus fan. Their lenses are totally glass, no plastic lens materials in them at all. The understand micro optics probably better than the others because of their work in microscopes and other medical equipment.

My suggestion is that you buy the one that you can afford and not beset yourself with a massive debt. The Olympus system is fine, I have used Olympus since the early 1970s and had no problem changing over to the digitals. You can still use older Olympus lenses if you purchase a lens converter which gives you a hugh array of very high quality lenses, as good as or better than anything that Canon or Nikon have ever made.

Because of the the obstinacy of the Canon and Nikon users, most of whom vastly over purchase., if I had to decide on something other than Olympus, I would go with either Sony or Pentax. Pentax has a nice selection of lenses and Sony has all of the Minolta lenses of days gone by to select from.
