In Photoshop, how do I lighten a black peice of cloth yet still maintain the shadows?
I'm not new to photoshop, but I'm not a pro either. I have a job here where a model has a gray jacket w/ a black skirt. The client has asked that I make the skirt the same color as the jacket. If I simply lighten, or try a gray layer w/ different types of blends, or replace color, etc. I lose my shadows in the skirt and it looks bad. How do I do this to the best effect?
You may have to do them manually by lassoing areas and lightening them less/more than others because if the skirt if very black then it may have no discernible shadows. But try Image>Adjustments>Levels first and try other options like Image>Adjustements>Shadow/Highlights. If you post the image I can have a quick go and make FAR better suggestions. It all depends on the image I'm afraid.
