what kind of patio cover?

I am going to have a patio cover built in my backyard and I was going to get a wood one but someone I work with suggested alumawood. They had a wood patio and they had to paint it, the wood cracked and it looked really bad after a few years. I just don't know anything about alumawood. Does anybody have any ideas or links where I can get information.

I build patio covers for a living. We mainly do alumawood but sometimes we do all wood patios. I would recommend alumawood or different aluminum products anytime. They last forever and are maintenance free. Here is link where you can see lots of pictures.
